PRIVATE TRAINING

Durable Athlete

What:

All of our training, regardless of who is the specific trainer that clients are matched with to meet their goals, have an education and basis in mobility. The importance of mobility is to enhance not just performance, but to respect the longevity of one’s career. If people lack a certain amount of mobility in their joint’s and entire kinetic chain, then any other training could be compounding unwanted stress on the body. Once a certain foundation of mobility is in place, our strength training is centered around modifying each drill to the client in front of us and their goals. Most sessions will run 60 min. Beyond the training, the Durable Athlete system is based onmastering the 4 pillars of health: Sleep, Movement, Nutrition, and Breath. We strive to educate and empower clients to master these 4 areas of their life because without it, we will not see the impactful gains we hope to realize.

BTY Basketball

Why private training?

The players that seek private training services do so for a few main reasons:

  • Individualized off-season game plan
  • Coordinating players nutrition
  • Strength training
  • Mobility / Recovery
  • On-court skills training

Our private training sessions are 100% tailored to the individual player. Instead of players following our set curriculum, we will build a custom curriculum based on the player’s needs.

TPA is for any player eager to take their game to the next level.  Any player that is dedicated and excited about the work, we have a program for you.

Think of Texas Pro Academy (TPA) as the umbrella. BTY (Better Than Yesterday) is our specialized on-court basketball player development, while The Durable Athlete is our high-performance strength and mobility wing. TPA integrates both to build athletes who are as resilient as they are skilled.

Our primary headquarters is located in Austin, Texas. We serve athletes from across Central Texas, including Westlake, Lake Travis, Round Rock, and Pflugerville.

4300 Westbank Dr Austin, TX 78746 United States – TPA HQ (inside WACC)

Our staff consists of seasoned professionals with experience at the collegiate and professional levels. Every TPA coach is certified in our proprietary training methodology to ensure consistent, high-level instruction.

Texas Pro Academy (TPA) offers a professional-grade environment that bridges the gap between amateur play and elite performance. We combine NBA-level skill development with science-based strength and conditioning to create the “Complete Athlete.”

Yes, we offer high-privacy sessions for professional athletes who require a closed-gym environment.

Yes, film breakdown to ensure players are growing their knowledge and IQ as well as developing in the details required to be successful in all situations.

Yes.  We provide a full-service pre-draft program including on-court player development, strength & performance training, film work, health optimization, and turnkey logistics (housing, meals, transportation, etc.).

Admission to the Pro Program is by invitation or vetting process. Please contact our Head of Basketball Operations directly.

We also offer in-season programs for players looking to continue their development year-round, including programming and in-person workouts in the player market.

Pro athletes have access to elite recovery protocols through The Durable Athlete, including mobility work and load management tracking.

Elite collegiate players in need of a full-service off-season in preparation for their upcoming season.

We prioritize skill development but integrate “controlled competition” to help players apply new skills in live-game scenarios.

Absolutely. Our in-season training focuses on “maintenance and mobility” to ensure you stay fresh and injury-free for your school games. We also offer light on-court training throughout the season so players can stay sharp skill-wise.

Yes, all HS athletes participate in The Durable Athlete performance training to build the strength required for the physical high school game.

We focus on developing the “translatable skills” college scouts look for. We also provide guidance on the recruiting landscape and help players build highlight reels that reflect high-IQ play.

We use regular skill assessments and athletic testing metrics to show players (and parents) their tangible growth.

For maximum results, we recommend 2-3 sessions per week during the off-season and 1 maintenance session during the season.

This program is for athletes in grades 9 through 12, including post-grad “gap year” athletes.

Our “Varsity Ready” curriculum is designed specifically to meet the standards of elite Austin-area coaches.

Yes, TPA maintains a standard of excellence across all levels. Our lead coaches oversee all Junior sessions.

If a Junior athlete demonstrates the physical and technical maturity required, our coaches may recommend an early transition.

Yes, but it is focused on “General Athleticism”—balance, coordination, and bodyweight movement—rather than heavy lifting.

We group players by ability and age to ensure everyone is challenged but not overwhelmed.

Never. Starting early ensures they don’t develop “bad habits” that are harder to fix later. We keep it engaging and age-appropriate.

Our Junior Program typically serves athletes in grades 3 through 8, divided into age-appropriate subgroups.

We want to first build a foundation of skill with a large focus on footwork, ball handling, finishing, and shooting.  Once we feel comfortable with our foundation, we progress into learning how to utilize those skills in live play.

A basketball, water bottle, and a willingness to learn. We provide the elite environment; they provide the effort.

Yes, TPA offers “Sibling Discounts” for families with more than one athlete enrolled in our programs.

Yes, we offer membership “hold” options for athletes who have heavy travel schedules during their school seasons.

Our “Full Academy” membership covers the integrated TPA experience (BTY Basketball + Durable Athlete Performance).

Members have access to a private portal to book sessions, update payment methods, and track their training credits.

Members receive exclusive “Early Bird” pricing and significant discounts on all TPA seasonal camps.

We offer various options, from month-to-month to annual commitments, to fit your family’s schedule.

Members receive discounted session rates, priority scheduling for clinics, and exclusive access to TPA member-only events and gear.

All members receive periodic comprehensive evaluations to track their athletic and skill-based growth.

Yes, depending on availability, you can request specific coaches based on their area of expertise.

Yes, we offer “Small Group” sessions (2-4 players) which provide a great balance of personal attention and game-speed competition.

Sessions can be booked directly through our website or member portal. We recommend booking in advance as slots fill up quickly.

Sessions are typically 60 minutes of high-intensity, focused work.

Any specific technical development a player needs, we’re able to take a deep dive and help improve it.

We require 24-hour notice for cancellations to ensure our coaches can manage their schedules effectively.

Private training takes place at TPA HQ. We provide the court, the equipment, and the pro-level instruction.

Yes, though members receive the best value and priority booking.

Yes, we utilize video analysis and shot-tracking tools to provide athletes with objective feedback on their mechanics.

We use “Small Sided Games” (SSGs) that force players to make quick decisions under pressure, rather than just running static drills.

Every session follows a progression: Warm-up/Ball Control -> Technical Skill Acquisition -> Game-Speed Repetition -> Decision Making.

Yes. School practices focus on team plays; BTY focuses on your individual skill set and “Translatable Skills” that work in any system.

BTY stands for “Better Than Yesterday.” It is our core philosophy and our specific brand of on-court player development.

We cover the full spectrum: elite ball-handling, finishing, shooting, as well as basketball IQ development (spacing, on-ball attacking, off-ball movement, game actions, etc.).

Our “Shooting Lab” methodology has a proven track record of improving shooting mechanics and confidence, leading to higher percentages in live games.

No. We meet every athlete where they are, starting with bodyweight mechanics before progressing to external loads.

We focus heavily on mobility and “Durability.” By identifying and fixing movement imbalances, we reduce the risk of non-contact injuries.

We recommend at least 2-3 sessions per week to see significant gains in speed, power, and vertical jump.

At TPA, we believe they are inseparable. Our Academy programs are designed to integrate both for a holistic development path.

It’s focus on lateral explosiveness, vertical power, core stability for finishing through contact.

Standard gyms focus on “looking good.” We focus on “Moving Well”.

This is a myth. Science-based strength training, when supervised by professionals like our staff, is safe and actually strengthens bones and connective tissue.

Athletes are usually required to bring their own snacks and plenty of water.

Yes! We have specific “Developmental” tracks within our camps to ensure beginners learn the right way from day one.

All camp registrations are handled through our VIEW CAMPS. We recommend registering early as our Austin camps consistently sell out.

We pride ourselves on a low ratio (typically 1:8 or 1:10) to ensure every camper receives personal feedback.

We offer full refunds (minus a small admin fee) up to 14 days before the camp starts. After that, we offer “Training Credits” for future sessions.

Most camps run from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, featuring high-intensity skill stations, guest speakers, and competitive play.

We offer Summer Intensives, Holiday Clinics, and specialized “Skill-Specific” camps (e.g., Shooting Camps, Guard Labs).

We frequently bring in professional players, collegiate coaches, and sports psychologists to give our campers a well-rounded perspective.
